We invite you to take part in the work of the 8th Russian-German conference on electric propulsions and their application "Electric propulsions, development and application in space" (RGCEP-2020 (+1)), which will take place from 11 to 15 April 2021 in an online format.

Both fundamental and applied issues related to the development of various types of electric propulsions, as well as their application as a part of spacecraft will be the topic of the conference.

The active development of electric propulsions began in the 60’s of the last century and led to the creation of a whole family of thrusters. To date, a significant amount of the spacecraft is equipped with propulsion systems based on electric propulsion (EP). Electric propulsions are one of the most promising space thrusters in space exploration and the only possible ones in the implementation of some space projects. At the same time, the development of space technology sets new challenges for the designers of EP.

The Conference will run in the form of plenary and technical sessions on the following topics: problems and perspective development directions of ion, stationary plasma and magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters; application of EP in exploration missions to planets and asteroids; application of EP for space debris utilization; general questions about spacecraft engineering with EP; spacecraft power systems with EP and problems of EP integration with  spacecraft systems. The Conference will also reflect the latest changes at the EP market.

The Conference organizers are EDB Fakel (Russia), RIAME (Russia), Justus Liebig University Giessen and Leibniz Institute of Surface Modification (Germany).

The 8th Russian-German Conference is timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of EDB Fakel - the leader in development and production of electric propulsions in Russia.

The seven previous Russian-German conferences made a significant contribution to the expansion of Russian-German scientific and technical cooperation in the field of space technologies, strengthened scientific ties between scientists and electric propulsions specialists.

The 8th Russian-German Conference is intended to continue the established traditions and promote the further development of international relations in both industrial and scientific spheres.

Exploration of space is the most difficult task in the history of mankind. We hope that the main result of this conference will be the strengthening of cooperation between countries, capable of overcoming the existing limits of the energy capabilities of space flights and expanding the range of tasks that the near-future spacecraft can perform
